3 good reasons to start a blog

Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008

Blogging is a great way to get more traffic from the right audience for three reasons.
First, search engines will give your website more “love” if you have fresh content, and writing a blog is a great way to get more fresh content.
Second, people typically just don’t link to a boring corporate website, but they will link to an interesting blog article, so blogging can help you get more links.
Finally, if your blog is setup correctly, each blog article is its own webpage and therefore is a unique SEO opportunity, so you can really capture a lot of long tail (i.e. highly focused and narrow) traffic using a blog. Additionally, blogs allow you to engage your customers in a dialogue and humanize your brand.

The importance of knowing your target audience

Tuesday, October 14th, 2008

When you decide to have a website for your business there are a number of things that you have to consider before you actually start building your website.

Website planning has various steps, the most important step is determining who your target audience is going to be.

The following questions will help you assess your market.  This will help you to narrow down your target by interest, demographic, and common trends.

  1. Who is your target audience?
  2. Where is your target audience located?
  3. What do they think about your current brand?
  4. What would you like them to think about your brand?
  5. How will you attract them to your products or services?
  6. Who else is competing for their loyalty and devotion?
  7. Are you targeting business or consumer services?

Determining your target audience during the website planning stage will give you a wealth of information that your web solutions provider can use as the website is further developed.  This information can be used when deciding on which website technologies to incorporate, the type of website features you need and what the target audience is looking for.
